Cyclist attacked by dog in York – Police issue description of owner

A dog attacked a cyclist in a York nature reserve.

It happened on Sunday 21 December between 7.30am and 7.40am at St Nicholas Fields.

The Doberman-type dog was off its lead and bit the cyclist’s hand. The rider had to be treated in hospital for the injury.

Police say the dog was possibly called something similar to Snoop or Snoopy.

The person walking it is described as

  • a white man
  • around 5ft 10-11in tall
  • and wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans and a bobble hat.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for the owner of the dog to come forward and anyone with information about who owns the dog or can help identify the owner.”
