Crews tackle house fire in village near Selby

Three fire crews were called to a blaze in a village near Selby early today (Saturday).

Crews from Tadcaster, Pontefract and Garforth went to the incident in High Street, South Milford at 2.28am.

The fire started in an upstairs bedroom.

Four firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The occupants were out on the arrival of crews and were seen to by ambulance after suffering smoke inhalation. The cause is still yet to be determined.”
