Crews called to kitchen fire in York

Firefighters were called out to a fire in a kitchen in York last night (Tuesday).

A crew from Acomb headed to a home on The Green, Acomb, at 7.26pm.

The fire started when a tea towel had accidently been left in the grill when it was turned on.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The homeowner had removed the tea towel prior to the fire service’s arrival.

“Crew ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.”
