Police called in firefighters after reports of a car fire in a North Yorkshire village today (Sunday).
A fire officer went to investigate in Welburn, between York and Malton, at 8.21am.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The officer attended and found that the car had been involved in an road traffic collision, having collided with a number of things before coming to rest in a field.
“The fire was fully extinguished and no persons on scene at time of our attendance.
“The incident was left with police due to possible deliberate ignition.”
