Buses diverted as ‘void’ opens on York road

A road is closed today after a ‘void’ opened up due to water mains burst.

St Denys Road, between Walmgate and Piccadilly, is shut today.

Water is pouring down the street.

City of York Council said on Facebook: “St Denys Road is currently closed due to a void caused by a water leak.

“Yorkshire Water is working to resolve the issue and further updates will be provided as soon as possible.

“Diversions are in place which may impact some bus services.”

East Yorkshire buses 747, X45, X46 and X47 are not serving the York Student Castle stop and are diverting between Walmgate and Piccadilly Via Margaret Street, George Street and Lead Mill Lane.

There are also leaks in Bishopthorpe today, including on Acaster Lane, leading to low water pressure in parts of the village.

We’ve asked Yorkshire Water for an update on the problems, and will update when we have a response.
