Bin fire spreads to fence and door on York street

Fire crews tackled an incident on a York street last night (Thursday, 1 January).

Acomb and York firefighters went to reports of a bin on fire on Galtres Avenue at 4.59pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews found the fire to the bin had spread to the fence and an external door of the property.

“Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the property.”
