Who let the Rascals out?
To mark Yorkshire Day (Saturday 1 August), Bettys is inviting visitors to York to take part in Who Let the Rascals Out?, a one-day treasure hunt celebrating one of Yorkshire’s best-loved bakery icons: the Bettys Fat Rascal.
Throughout the day, 125 wooden Rascal tokens will be hidden at notable locations around York.
On 1 August, treasure hunters can collect a map from the Bettys-branded pop-up stand in St Helen’s Square, follow the clues, and exchange any wooden Rascal they find for a real Fat Rascal in Bettys York.
Carol Hanson, manager of Bettys in York, said: “Yorkshire Day is the perfect moment to celebrate a little mischief, a lot of local pride and the unmistakable smile of the Fat Rascal.
“We hope families, visitors and York residents enjoy following the clues and discovering Rascals across the city.”
First introduced by Bettys more than 40 years ago, the Fat Rascal is a plump, fruity scone with a cherry and almond grin, and remains one of Bettys’ most recognisable and much-loved bakery treats.
Bettys also has locations in Ilkley, Nothallerton and Harrogate.
