Bench, tree and bin set alight in three arson incidents in York

Firebugs were active in York last night (Friday).

Fire crews were called to three separate incidents of arson in the city.

At 8.59pm they went to Acomb Wood where a tree was on fire. An Acomb fire crew used a knapsack sprayer, beaters and a spade to put it out.

It is the third deliberate fire in the wood in the last few weeks, with incidents on 13 March and 3 April.

A 9.42pm, the Acomb crew were called out again, this time to Acomb Green, where a bench was on fire. This was extinguished with a bucket of water.

Then at 3.30am firefighters put out a wheelie bin which had been set on fire on Foxwood Lane.
