Learn about the importance of rivers and wildness – in a special event with award-winning York writer.
The Friends of Nun Ings are set to host a public talk by Amy-Jane Beer on the importance of rivers and wildness in our lives and our communities, on Tuesday 28 April at St Chad’s Church, Campleshon Road, York.
Amy-Jane, a former resident of South Bank in York who now lives on the Derwent, is the author of ‘The Flow: Rivers, Water, and Wildness’, winner of the Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing 2023.
A biologist turned writer, she has contributed to more than 40 books on natural history, and campaigns for equality of access to nature.
She will be bringing her expertise and passion for rivers to this public talk at St. Chad’s Church.
The Friends of Nun Ings (FONI) are a constituted community group formed in 2023 and dedicated to safe-guarding and nurturing the stretch of York riverside from the former Terry’s factory to Middlethorpe.
Tickets for the event are free and can be reserved via Eventbrite – with donations welcomed.
