Armed police cordoned off a property in North Yorkshire earlier today (Sunday).
They also urged residents to keep away from the area while they dealt with ‘an isolated incident’ in Sowerby near Thirsk.
It followed reports at 5.19am of an aggravated burglary.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended and the occupants were brought to safety by 5.52am.
“The suspect was located inside a nearby property.
“A safety cordon was put in place while a police operation got underway involving armed officers, trained negotiators, and a police drone.
“It was brought to a safe conclusion at 12.03pm when the 31-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of drugs with intent to supply.
“He has been taken into custody for questioning.
“The victims have been safeguarded and are receiving support while the investigation continues at the address.”
