Fire crews called out to another allotment shed fire in York

There’s been another fire in a shed at allotments in York.

This time the incident was at Tadcaster road in the city. Fire crews from Acomb and York found the shed was well alight. Crews extinguished the fire using one main jet, a ceiling hook and a thermal imaging camera. It’s not clear how it started at the moment but there have been a series of similar incidents near-by.

Last month police were asking parents to be vigilant and note where their children were on an evening as youths were suspected of starting the fires.

There was also a warning that people should check allotment sheds to make sure homeless people were not sleeping in them, putting them at risk
