A kitchen fire, car crash and malicious call – Busy night for York firefighters

York firefighters had another busy shift last night (Wednesday).

They were called at 7.06pm to a smoke alarm activation on King Street.

This was due to a cooker catching fire, which was out when firefighters arrived. Crews gave advice to the resident.

Later, at 10.48pm, crews assisted police with a collision on Cherry Lane in Dringhouses.

It involved a single vehicle. No one was trapped. Firefighters carried out first aid and made the scene safe.

Two fire appliances were also sent to a residential property in York. This turned out to be a malicious call – there was no fire.
