Police have been called in after youths started a fire in a York village last night (Sunday).
They were called to the incident in New Earswick at 7.37pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The York crew were mobilised to a fire sighted in a field opposite residential properties.
“Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
“The cause of the fire is believed deliberate after youths were seen lighting fireworks in the area. Police were informed.”
