York team to represent England in the ‘Olympics of Dance’

Young dancers from York dance school are set to represent England in prestigious ‘Olympics of Dance’ competition.

Lisa Marie Performing Arts are celebrating the extraordinary achievement of qualifying to represent England at the Dance World Cup 2026 – a competition that’s widely regarded as the ‘Olympics of Dance’.

Participants from over 70 countries will be competing this summer, at the grand final in Dublin from 8-18 July.

The dance school, based in Nether Poppleton, York, has qualified in three separate routines, a remarkable accomplishment that showcases the talent, passion, and determination of these young performers:

  • Senior Small Group – Show Stopper
  • Children’s Large Group – Jazz
  • Children’s Small Group – Commercial

For these children, some of whom have been dancing since they could walk, this is a dream come true.

Years of early mornings, long rehearsals, and endless dedication have brought them to the world stage — a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent their country and share their love of dance with the world.

The Dance World Cup is one of the most prestigious international competitions, attracting thousands of performers from across the globe. Qualifying in multiple categories is an extraordinary achievement, particularly for a small, grassroots dance school.

And they need your support! To make this dream a reality, the school is raising £10,000 to cover training, travel, accommodation, competition fees, and costumes.

Lisa Marie Performing Arts is also offering sponsorship opportunities for local businesses and organisations. Packages include promotional exposure through performances, social media, event materials, and community engagement.
