A York shopping centre has been sold, it was announced today (Wednesday)
The Frasers Group has acquired York Designer Outlet from property company McArthurGlen.
In the deal, the group also acquired the East Midlands Designer Outlet. The price has not been disclosed.
York’s outlet has around 250,000 sq ft of retail space and is home to about 120 brands, with annual footfall of 4.3 million.
Frasers Group, the retail giant behind House of Fraser and Sports Direct, was founded by Mike Ashley in 1982.

In a statement, the group said its acquisitions further position the group as both a landlord and operator within the outlet market, increasing its exposure to physical retail at a time when the group continues to invest in its property portfolio.
Chief executive Michael Murray said: “These strategic acquisitions reinforce our vision, leveraging strong partnerships with leading global brands to unlock mutual value – supporting their outlet strategies while driving growth.
“Today, we own over one-fifth of the UK outlet market and have a clear ambition to grow our share further.”
