Thieves smashed the window of a York shop in a raid early this morning (Friday).
They smashed the window of the front door to gain entry to Sore Thumb Retro Games on Gillygate at 5.45am.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers arrived at the scene within 15 minutes of the report, but the suspects had fled.
“It’s believed they may have been disturbed during the incident.
“The fire service also attended as a precaution as smoke was seen inside the premises.
“An investigation is underway, and a cordon currently remains in place at the store to allow forensic examination work to take place.”
