A York school will remain closed today, the leadership team has announced.
Millthorpe School was due to reopen for the start of term this morning.
But parents have been sent a message to say it will remain shut because it has no water supply.
A message sent to all parents says: “Without running water, we are unable to provide a safe environment for pupils and staff.
“We are monitoring the situation and will update parents as soon as we have further news about when the water supply is expected to be restored.
“We understand that this closure may cause inconvenience and apologise for the short notice. We did not receive any notification of the problem nor any indication of when it would be resolved.
“Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”
It comes after another freezing night. A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in place for York and much of North Yorkshire until 11am today.
