York man appears in court charged with attempted murder

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder and carrying a knife after a young woman was allegedly stabbed in York.

Jake Joe Bamber, 35, of Apollo Street, off Heslington Road, appeared at York Magistrates’ Court this morning (Wednesday, 14 January) but did not enter a plea to the charges.

He was arrested after an incident at an address on Lindley Road, Clifton, at about 5.50pm on Saturday (10 January), in which a woman in her 20s suffered serious injuries.

He was subsequently charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public place.

District judge Adrian Lower sent the case to Leeds Crown Court where Mr Bamber will appear on 11 February.

He was remanded in custody until then.
