A York golf club has raised over £6,000 for local youth homelessness charity Safe and Sound Homes (SASH).
Throughout 2025, Captains Maria Parks and Stuart Rankin led a year of dedicated fundraising for SASH both on and off the course – culminating in the club raising more than £6,000 through the generosity of members and visitors alike.
Fundraising event highlights included charity quizzes, a ‘Sing for SASH’ evening, and charity challenge matches.
The centrepiece of the fundraising calendar was the Captain’s Weekend in June. Both the men’s and women’s competitions were well attended, and nearly £2,500 was raised through the generous donations of members.
Maria and Stuart expressed their gratitude for the incredible support received throughout the year. Maria said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown by our members and visitors. Supporting SASH has been incredibly important to us, as it’s a local charity making a real difference to young people’s lives.”
Stuart added: “It’s been a privilege to support SASH during our captaincy year. The enthusiasm from everyone at the club, both on and off the course, has been fantastic, and we’re proud to have played a part in helping such a vital cause.”
SASH works to prevent youth homelessness by providing immediate emergency accommodation through its Nightstop service, placing young people in safe, temporary homes during times of crisis.
For those requiring longer-term support, the charity offers a Supported Lodgings programme, combining accommodation with one-to-one guidance to help young people build independence and stability.
In addition to housing support, SASH delivers an Enhancement Programme that provides access to counselling, social activities, gym memberships and new experiences.
Each year, SASH must raise approximately £500,000 to continue delivering its services to vulnerable young people across the region.
