Firefighters were called to an incident that left flats in York filled with smoke last night (Saturday).
Crews from York and Acomb went to a kitchen fire in Crathorne House on Jackson Street at 7.59pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The cause of the fire is believed to be an item placed on top of cooker by mistake and cooker was turned on.

“Crew extinguished the fire and ventilated the flats that had become smoke logged. All residents unharmed. Crew gave advice.”
