Two recycling bins had been deliberately set alight. They put out the flames with a hose reel jet.

Then York and Acomb firefighters responded to a report of a shed on fire on St Benedict Road at 3.48am.

They put out the blaze with a hose reel jet. Both the shed and its contents were badly damaged.

Finally, at 4.19am York and Acomb crews were called to put out another shed fire, this time on Ebor Street. Police were also there.
