York café shuts suddenly due to ‘unexpected maintenance issue’

A large York café was shut today (Monday) due to unforeseen problems.

The Costa Coffee on Parliament Street has been closed all day.

A sign in the window states: “Apologies, we are closed due to an unexpected maintenance issue.

“Your nearest Costa Coffee is located at Museum Street.”

A separate note says it will reopen tomorrow (Tuesday, 27 February) at 6.30am.

The Parliament Street branch opened in December 2021 in the premises formerly occupied by the Disney Store.

It replaced a smaller café on nearby Market Street.

The coffee shop is not the only food and drink outlet in the area to be temporarily closed.

YorkMix reported how Thomas The Baker shut last week to undergo a four-week refurb. It is due to reopen on 16 March.
