York café owners say goodbye after ‘eight amazing years’

A much-loved – and photographed – York café looks set to be sold as the owners move on.

Twins Charlotte and Jennifer Davison run Crumbs Cupcakery, found on College Street in the shadow of York Minster.

But they have announced their departure after “eight amazing years”.

Crumbs Cupcakery is famous for its fresh treats. They bake all of their cakes fresh every day and have up to 12 different flavours daily.

Its picturesque cakes and location, with tables overlooking College Green, mean pictures of the café have been shared around the world.

But Charlotte and Jennifer have shared on social media that it’s time to go.

“What started as two twin sisters with a love for baking turned into something we could have only dreamed of,” they wrote.

“From early mornings to late nights, thousands of cupcakes, and so many memories with all of you – this little shop has meant everything to us.

“We wanted to let you know that we’ll be selling the business, with our final day being tentatively the 31st of May.

“This isn’t an easy decision for us to make, however we’re so grateful for every single person who has supported us, visited us, and been part of our journey over the years.

“We’d love to see as many of you as possible before we close this chapter.”

Whoever takes over has a hard act to follow – Crumbs Cupcakery has a 4.7/5 rating on TripAdvisor and was hailed in the Daily Telegraph.
