York’s business community has raised over £27,600 for St Leonard’s Hospice by taking part in its Accumulator Challenge this year.
2026 marks the 10th year of the Challenge, in which 11 teams of six received a loan of £30 and tried to generate as much profit as possible in just 30 days. Since its inception, over £210,000 has been raised for patient care at the Hospice and in the community.
YorkMix took part again this year, hosting a games night of family fun with Family Fortunes, Bingo, Quizzical Live, Disco and a Tombola.
The event was a huge success, and we accumulated £1,014.87 for the challenge.

The awards ceremony took place on Thursday 2 April at the Delta by Marriott hotel, with winners in four categories – including YorkMix!:
- Community Choice: Money Mixers (YorkMix)
- Outstanding Team Member: Jo Meier, Tesco Askham Moor (Tesco Askham Bar and Clifton Moor)
- Innovation: Jo Meier, Tesco Askham Moor (Tesco Askham Bar and Clifton Moor)
- Overall winner (most raised): Grand Plans (The Grand)
Annie Keogh, corporate partnerships development fundraiser at St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “We’re delighted that this year’s Accumulator Challenge has been our most successful yet, meaning we’ve now raised over £210,000 since it first began.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the local businesses that take part in the Challenge, some for the first time and others that return year after year. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of our community and local businesses to help us provide our care and support to people across our region, when they need it most.
“A huge thank you to every business that has participated this year, and congratulations to all the winners.”
