York area non-league roundup: Taddy Albion keep up title push with third win

Finlay Mattheis brings us all the latest from our clubs

Eccleshill United 2-1 Knaresborough Town

Knaresborough lost away at Eccleshill United despite equalising in the 92nd minute through Jack Dyche. Unfortunately for Knaresborough it was all for nothing when Cole Roberts equalised late on for Eccleshill extending Town’s winless run.

Pickering Town 0-3 Tadcaster Albion

Tadcaster Albion won comfortably in a dominant performance with goals from Alex Clark, Charlie Owen and Miguel Cassama. This was the Brewer’s third win from five in the league. The Tadcaster push for the league title is well and truly on with them being only four points away from top spot with a game in hand over current league leaders Liversedge.

Glasshoughton Welfare 1-5 Goole AFC

Goole AFC put in a dominant display away at Glasshoughton Welfare with Lucas Smith and Jimmy Eyles notching up a brace apiece and Ify Ofoegbo with the other for the Vikings. The Glasshoughton defence struggled to deal with Ofoegbo who always seemed to be on the ball assisting several times in the game. Glasshoughton’s only goal came from a penalty after Dylan Parkin, in the first game of his return to the Vikings, came far off his line, clattering the Glasshoughton attacker while competing for a lofted ball. Daniel Hickey converted the spot-kick, firing straight down the middle.

Harrogate Railway 4-1 Winterton Rangers

Harrogate Railway continued their impressive form with this comfortable victory over Winterton Rangers with goals from Sam Clothier, a brace from Alex Ingham and the finishing touch from Dom Creamer. It means they are only four points away from the top spot in the NCEL Division One, and they have two games in hand over league leaders Dearne & District. Winterton still seem to be struggling to find their feet for the second successive season after their double relegation from the Northern Premier League and NCEL Premier division, sitting second bottom on 13 points.

Ilkley Town 2-0 Selby Town

The struggle continues at Selby, who lost away at Ilkley Town, their furthest away game of the season. Goals from Harry Abson and Harry Miles secured all three points for Ilkley. Selby Town remain winless in the league since 13 September and still winless under Stephen Bodle in the league who has been at the helm since 9 October. Selby sit two points out of the relegation zone although they have two games in hand to most of the teams in and around the drop.

Goole United 3-2 Hornsea Town

Goole United beat mid-table side Hornsea Town in their third win of the season with goals from Ryan Whitlam and Leon Lockwood. Then Yates scored late on securing all three points for United, boosting them to 13th in the Humber Premier league.
