XmasMix Radio has officially launched for the Christmas season, following a lively event at Impossible Wonder Bar last night. Although many may have already been tuning in throughout November, December marks the moment the station truly takes centre stage, bringing non stop festive music and nostalgia to homes, workplaces and businesses across York.
This year’s station promises to lift spirits throughout the month. Christmas music genuinely sparks happiness, whether through childhood memories, family traditions, or those unmistakable feelings of love and hope. From timeless festive favourites to brand new Christmas releases from today’s artists, XmasMix Radio delivers a soundtrack designed to spread cheer from morning to night.
A highlight of this year’s launch is the support of PJ Staffing, joining as proud sponsors for the first time.
Paul McCallum, who leads the business and is a committed Christmas enthusiast himself, shared why supporting the station felt like the perfect fit.
Community sits at the heart of PJ Staffing, whether through the teams they build in the catering, hospitality and events industries, their work with clients during challenging times, or their charity partnerships that bring people together.
One of those partnerships is with Candlelighters, the children’s cancer charity. PJ Staffing has long supported their work, including creating the “Pink It Up Weekender” fundraiser in 2025, which raised vital funds and awareness across Yorkshire. Candlelighters also launched their own major campaign this week.
From midday Tuesday, December 2nd to midday Tuesday, December 9th, the charity is taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, the UK’s largest match-funding campaign. They aim to raise £40,000 in online donations in seven days, which will be matched to reach £80,000. All funds will help support families affected by childhood cancer both during December and throughout the year.
Paul and the entire PJ Staffing team extend their warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to everyone across the region.
To kick off the season, the launch event at Impossible Wonder Bar brought together local charities, businesses and ambassadors for the city. Guests enjoyed a warm welcome hot toddy courtesy of York Gin, along with quizzes, magic, and plenty of mince pies. Paul from PJ Staffing and Victoria and Tim from YorkMix welcomed attendees and officially declared XmasMix, this month will be full of festive celebration.
The evening was a reminder of how the city continues to come together, supporting one another, championing local causes and celebrating what makes York and North Yorkshire shine at Christmas.
Now December has arrived, there’s no better time to find your Christmas jumper and turn up the festive tunes. Whether you work in events, hospitality or retail, decorating the house, writing cards, making wreaths or simply looking to get into the spirit, XmasMix Radio has the perfect soundtrack ready.
XmasMix runs until 31 December 2025. You can listen via the YorkMix Radio app, the YorkMix.com website, or by asking Alexa to enable “XmasMix Radio” (pronounced Christmas mix).
