Woman in her 60s assaulted and racially abused outside York supermarket

A woman aged in her 60s was assaulted and racially abused in York city centre.

It happened on Wednesday 25 February at 9.10pm outside Sainsbury’s Local on Bootham.

The suspect is described as

  • a dark-skinned man
  • aged in his early 20s
  • of slight build
  • with dark hair.

Incident location

He left the scene in a dark coloured saloon car heading out of Bootham Row towards Clifton. The car was parked in the Bootham Row car park before the assault.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing to any witnesses to the incident to come forward and any motorists that may have been passing Bootham on this date and time to review any dashcam footage that may be held.”
