York legend Purpleman has raised many thousands of pounds for the people of Ukraine with his slo-mo Shambles walk.
And now this emergency aid has been delivered deep into the war-torn country thanks to his special envoy.
Who is the envoy? A York resident who volunteered to take the Purpleman aid into Ukraine, including vital medical supplies and gifts for young and old.
We are not identifying him until he is back in York, for security reasons.
He travelled into the country on an aid bus. Purpleman told YorkMix: “I feel so proud of this young man.
“He’s taken many purple items to give as gifts of love. He put a PM bandana at an abandoned playground.
“He’s seen some horrors – and was scarily close to a shell that exploded nearby.
“As well as carrying out risky deliveries of aid and medical supplies to ‘hot zones’, he’s been helping to evacuate people away from the frontline to safer areas.”
PM’s envoy told us: “I am focused on the positive things I can achieve in Ukraine, not on the negative stuff.
“Sure it’s dangerous, but helping out is the right thing to do. Love to my family and friends in York and beyond. I will be home soon.
“PS. Loving being Purpleman in a war… it spreads a bit of joy where there isn’t much.”
Back in York, Purpleman is continuing his daily slo-mo walk along the city’s most famous street, Shambles.
He’s met many Ukrainian people staying in the city and wider UK during his marathon fundraiser – and even had an ice cream launched in his honour.
