The pursuit continued along the A1(M) into West Yorkshire. Officers lost sight of the vehicle after it drove the wrong way around a roundabout near the Thorpe Park retail park.
The abandoned Audi was located a short time later with help from police dogs.
Two suspects were found hiding in a nearby caravan. One had the Audi’s vehicle keys, and both were arrested. A second vehicle, also reported stolen, was recovered.
A 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of burglary. They are in custody.
DCI Simone Bennett from North Yorkshire Police said: “Pursuits often don’t stop at county borders, and neither do we.
“Our specialist officers work 24/7 around the clock closely with neighbouring forces to ensure that those who try to evade us cannot simply cross into another area to avoid arrest.
“These swift arrests and the recovery of two suspected stolen vehicles demonstrate our determination to protect the public and bring offenders to justice.”
