A drunken man who was threatening people in York city centre has been arrested.
Police have thanked people for their help in the operation.
It happened yesterday afternoon (Friday, 16 January).
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A violent, drunken male was threatening members of the public with a bottle on St Saviourgate.
“He was disarmed and arrested by the York city neighbourhood team and has now been charged with offences.
“We would like to thank members of the public who flagged down the dispatched officers, to tell them the males exact location.”
They added that “York remains one of the safest counties in England and this is due to the strong partnership between police and you the public”.
