York is to star in another movie.
A film crew were shooting along the cobbles of Micklegate for most of today (Wednesday).
They were keeping tight-lipped about the details, but we did manage to glean that it was a gangster movie. And we captured one take of our own:
Micklegate was partially closed to traffic while the filming took place.
At one point a London black cab was involved – suggesting that the handsome Micklegate facade might be doubling up as the capital city for this shoot.
A large film crew were involved, with lights and cameras shielded from the rain with plastic covers.
Garforth House at number 54 Micklegate was renamed ‘Dacia Apartments’ , with more scenes filmed inside.
The five storey Grade I Listed property was built in 1755 – 1757 for the Garforth family of Wiganthorpe Hall, and is attributed to the prolific English architect John Carr.
