Victory for the ‘Free to Pee’ campaign

One year since launching a campaign to stop charges being introduced, Cllr Keane Duncan has confirmed all of Malton and Norton’s toilets will remain free to access for now.

North Yorkshire Council has agreed there will be no charges and no closures for the foreseeable future, with no change until at least June next year.

It follows the petition signed by over 1,500 people.

Cllr Duncan said: “Without this action, the Market Place toilets would already have a 40p charge per use, while Wentworth Street would have been closed down.

“Thanks everyone. It shows what we can achieve when we work together for fairness.”
