Two people were badly hurt in the crash which closed the A64 for several hours yesterday (Monday).
It happened at about 7.25am near Hutton Hill west of Malton. A Blue Toyota Aygo, Silver Vauxhall Corsa and a grey Mazda 2 collided.
One person was cut out of their vehicle by firefighters. They were airlifted to hospital via the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Another was taken to hospital by road ambulance. Police said today they both suffered serious injuries.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The road was subsequently closed for number of hours while we investigated the scene and to allow the vehicles involved to be recovered.
“We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage.”
