A ‘significant policing operation’ will be in place in York on Saturday as a bumper crowd is expected for the early kick-off.
York City expect around 7,250 to be at the LNER Community Stadium as they take on Hartlepool at 12.30pm.
Hartlepool are set to bring 1,500 fans.
North Yorkshire Police have said they hope everyone enjoys the game “in the right spirit” and make it a “memorable occasion”.
They added: “However, we’re clear that antisocial, intimidating and criminal behaviour won’t be tolerated.
“Anyone who is committing it should expect to be dealt with by the police swiftly and robustly.
“We have a significant policing operation in place in York on Saturday, and members of the public can expect to see a high-visibility police presence across the city, to provide reassurance and safety for everyone.”
York City have said that there will be searches, which will involve the use of dogs.
The club said: “Amnesty bins will also be present before arriving at turnstiles.
“Prohibited items (which may include pyrotechnics, drugs, and weapons) are never welcome at the LNER Community Stadium.
“Failure to utilise the amnesty bins before heading to the turnstiles for any prohibited item will result in ejection.”
The club also urged fans to get to the stadium in plenty of time. The car park will be open from 9am for those with a Monks Cross Park and Ride pass.
Supporters travelling via Y22 can catch the first service to Monks Cross from Stonebow at 10.30am.
Turnstiles will open from 11am on Saturday.
