Rail line open again after a train hit an obstruction north of York

Trains between Northallerton and York have been delayed this evening after an incident north of York,

LNER said a train hit an obstruction on the line between York and Northallerton.

They added that an inspection of the train took place to see what it had hit and what damage had been caused.

There was blood on the train which LNER confirmed was not human so the service hit an animal.

They then said the train was ok to move forward.

Lines have now reopened but there are still delays to services run by LNER, TransPennine Express, Grand Central and CrossCountry. Some passengers have been put on buses. `
