It’s so popular there are often queues for a table.
And now one of York’s top-rated brunch spots has revealed it’s opening a second city branch.
Rise York, a huge success on Fossgate, is expanding with a venue on Museum Street.
The team is busily converting the empty premises which last housed hot chocolate emporium Cocoa Joe’s.
Rise opened its first York branch four years ago. Described as a “vibey brunch spot on the trendy Fossgate” it serves up classics like eggs Benedict and sticky toffee French toast.

The café is listed as number two in the TripAdvisor best York brunch spots, and has a 4.9/5 rating.
Rise also has branches in Liverpool and two in Preston.
On its social media, the company said: “Five years ago we had one shop. Now we’re getting ready to open number five.”

It is also hiring. They are looking for baristas, bakers and till crew.
Cocoa Joe’s was opened by University of York graduate Joe Andrew in 2021.
It closed last year, “due to many circumstances beyond our control”.
