This vicious looking knife has been taken off the streets of York.
It was seized by police on a patrol of Heworth last night (Tuesday).
On social media, North Yorkshire Police said: “Another knife off the streets of York.
“Safer Neighbourhood Officers came across this while on targeted patrols of Heworth. Booked into property for destruction.”
The knife has a highly decorated blade, leading to speculation about its origins. One on Facebook said it “looks a lot like a Viking Seax knife”.
Another said: “That’s an unusual and rather decorative knife with a very unusual handle.
“Sad that it clearly has been in the wrong hands but now it’s safe I’d ask a knife expert to take a look at that out of curiosity.”
