Tea company to open first venue in York – and it’s giving away 100 free drinks

A tea revolution is brewing in York.

Rebel Tea, the tea-tastic company that’s passionate about taking the humble brew from ‘soggy teabags’ to ‘bold, barista-crafted drinks’ is opening its first brick-and-mortar venue in York.

Located inside York station, they will be serving up tea with a twist from Tuesday 21 July – and treating the first 100 customers to a free drink.

Rebel Tea, founded by Ross Taylor, is owned by Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate, the parent company behind Yorkshire Tea.

The tea company use a ‘tea latte base’ for their drinks – which is the tea equivalent to a coffee espresso shot. The highly concentrated base is crafted for creative drinks, hot, iced, shaken, stirred, steamed or blended, and visitors can expect variations like Straight Up Black Tea, Caramelised Biscuit Flavoured and Cherry Bakewell Flavoured.

Ahead of the opening, Rebel Tea wrote on social media that they “wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the incredible people and businesses who helped turn a slightly bonkers idea into something real.

“From the office tastings at Hiscox, Aviva and York Council, to the brilliant community at Patch, you gave us exactly what we needed: encouragement, honesty and the occasional ‘you know what… this could actually work.'”

They also thanked Spark York and York River Art Market for the pop-up opportunities.

“We can’t wait to welcome some familiar faces and hopefully meet plenty of new ones, too.”
