Annual maintenance work on the steep road at Sutton Bank near Thirsk is underway.
The A170 will be closed in the area for 8 days (7am on Sunday 7 September to 7pm on Sunday 14 September)
This is to allow maintenance to the rock face to prevent falls and routine maintenance to the road.
North Yorkshire Council says “this ensures it remains in a structurally sound condition in the long term.”
A signed diversion will be in place. Access to premises on the bank will be maintained whenever possible, however, due to the nature of the work, there may be times when it will have to be restricted.
