A street in Whitby is cordoned off by police today (Monday).
Flowergate is behind tape between the junctions of Silver Street and Brunswick Street, close to The Elsinore pub.
Officers at the scene have told people in the area that there’s been a serious incident.
Incident location
There are several reports online that a person involved in the incident has died, but these are unconfirmed.
The Whitby England Facebook page said: “Due to an incident last night, the top of Flowergate is taped off, as it’s now a crime scene.
“Please don’t attempt to go down in car or foot.”
The People’s Fridge in Whitby reported: “Both the road and pavement are closed between Skinner Street and Brunswick Street, and there are various closures and diversions in place on the surrounding roads.”
