A serious crash has shut a stretch of the A19 this morning (Thursday).
The southbound carriageway is closed from the A684 Northallerton junction to the A168 Thirsk junction.
Police first issued an alert at 4.27am today.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Please avoid the area if you can, and use alternative routes or use the diversion via Northallerton and Thirsk, where possible while emergency services work at the scene.”
The AA says: “Road closed due to crash investigation work on A19 southbound from Northallerton turn-off to Thirsk turn-off.
“Detour in operation Exit at the A684 junction heading west towards Northallerton.”
