Parents will know that ground was broken on the Selby SEND School a few months ago, and the Selby MP has said it’s amazing to see the fast progress on the site.
SEND is a term used to describe learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for a child or young person to learn.
Keir Mather MP says: “We can now share an expected opening date, with the school planning to welcome the first students from September 2027.
“I was also delighted to visit Selby High School last week and hear about their plans for a new Targeted Mainstream Provision (TMP) which will provide another boost for local SEND provision, including specialist communication and interaction support.”
“I know that lots of local parents will have questions about the eligibility and application process for places at the new SEND school.
“I’m trying to get together a list of FAQs you know what those processes should look like, so if you’d like to stay up to date on this then please drop me an email.”
The new 100 place all-through (3-19 years) school will be off the A63 Hull Road in Osgodby and will provide much needed SEND places for the Selby area and new facilities for the community to share.
The proposals will deliver a major investment from the Department for Education and North Yorkshire Council and will be part of Wellspring Academy Trust.
