The A171 near Whitby is closed after a crash early this morning (Wednesday).
Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision on the road near Ugthorpe at 5.38am.
One person was trapped in the wreckage.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used cutting equipment to remove the casualty from vehicle and assisted ambulance crews to move casualty to the ambulance.”
According to the AA, the A171 was still closed at 7.36am. It reports: “Road closed and slow traffic due to crash on A171 both ways from B1266 High Street to Glaisdale turn off.”
