Road closed after lorry holding 200 pigs overturns in North Yorkshire

Firefighters have been working to cut pigs free from a lorry after it overturned in North Yorkshire, blocking a road.

It happened on the B1248 near Malton at about 2.40pm.

The HGV was carrying about 200 pigs at the time of the incident.

Firefighters from Malton have been working hard to rescue the livestock.

On twitter, station manager Tony Walker said: “We are currently still on scene releasing the pigs using cutting gear and manpower.

“We have a vet and specialists working with us. Road closed for some time.”
