Rail passengers travelling north face major delays due to police incident

A police incident in the Scottish borders has led to major disruption for rail passengers travelling north from York.

Train company LNER says: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Edinburgh.

“To allow the emergency services to carry out their work all lines are closed.”

Although the lines have now reopened, major disruption is expected until 1pm.

Rail replacement buses are operating between Newcastle and Edinburgh.

Passengers can use their tickets to travel on alternative routes at no extra cost.
