Local Lib Dem councillors in Woodthorpe say they are worried for the future of the community’s Post Office services again.
There is a Post Office counter in the Morrisons Daily on Moorcroft Road but that could be under threat after the supermarket chain said it was planning to close some of the small stores.
Morrisons said the affected shops had been loss-making for some time and were acquired from McColls in 2022.
The chain has around 1,700 Morrisons Daily convenience stores and opened more than 120 franchise stores last year.
Lib Dem Councillor Stephen Fenton said: “We successfully campaigned for Post Office counter services to be reinstated after the former Post Office closed back in 2019.
“We will do so again.”
Morrisons did not immediately specify which of those stores it was proposing to close, but said they were ones “whose performance has been challenged for a number of years and which are loss making, despite remedial action”.
