A man acting suspiciously and invading gardens triggered a significant police response this morning (Friday).
At about 5am a man was seen going into people’s gardens and interfering with vehicles around Rowan Avenue in New Earswick.
Witnesses said a large police presence responded to the incident.

A car was pursued by officers and then abandoned.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A man has been arrested in relation to this incident, and currently remains in custody.
“We’re particularly appealing for residents in the area could check any CCTV, doorbell camera, dashcam or other video footage covering the time period around this incident.
“We are also asking anyone who may have witnessed a man acting suspiciously, or who has any information that may assist our investigation.”
