A York café, well known for its incredible cakes and unique experiences, has closed.
Mama Doreen’s Emporium opened in the Vangarde Shopping Park two years ago, and has delivered “countless magical moments” since then, said the team.
But now they have closed and moved out.
Mama Doreen’s occupied the unit formerly occupied by the Confessional restaurant from November 2023, serving a range of cakes and sandwiches, and staging afternoon teas and seasonal and musical experiences.
It was the second branch, after owners Jessica Wyatt and her mum Justine launched the business in Harrogate.

In a message to customers today, they said: “Sadly, our York Emporium at Vangarde Shopping Park has now closed its doors.
“This decision has not been easy; as an independent, family-run business, we’ve always believed in being honest about the challenges small businesses face.
“We’re incredibly proud of our hardworking team in York, who we love dearly, and are so grateful for our customers and all the memories made there. Your support has meant the world to us.”
Co-founder Jessica Wyatt told YorkMix: “Like many independent, family run businesses, we continue to navigate a challenging landscape.
“Our York team delivered countless magical moments for guests, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us.
“This isn’t the end of Mama Doreen’s growth, it’s a moment to refocus, strengthen our Harrogate home, and explore new opportunities for the future.”

Any guests with a booking, including table reservations, events, and product collections, will be contacted directly by a member of the Mama Doreen’s team.
