An elderly woman has been conned out of £3,000 by bogus traders.
It happened on Foxhill Lane in Brayton, Selby.
At about 10am last Monday (5 February) two men called at the home of an elderly woman on offering to carry out fascia work to her roof.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The elderly female has agreed to this but the two males have then stated further work was required confusing the female.
“The female has then been charged over £3,000 for a small amount of work that was carried out.”
The offenders were driving an orange Ford Transit flat bed style van.
If anybody witnessed the incident or can offer any further information, they are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting reference NYP-05022024-0473.
In the meantime, officers are asking people to be aware of bogus traders in the area.
