Police want to speak to him following a theft at Student Castle on Walmgate in York.
Money was stolen from a laundry top-up machine in the building at about 1.55pm on Friday 9 April.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers are asking members of the public to get in touch if they recognise the male in the image as they believe he might have information that could help the investigation.”
